About Patrick Ssenyonjo aka Fresh Kid and His new Scholarship
Uganda’s richest man, Sudhir Ruparelia under his Ruparelia Foundation has agreed to sponsor education of Uganda’s youngest musician on board; the seven-year-old rap Patrick Ssenyonjo better known as “Fresh Kid”.
Sudhir Ruparelia
Sudhir Ruparelia, Uganda’s multi-talented property baron and also founder of Ruparelia Foundation – has been a lifelong environmentalist whose appreciation of the environment and nature was nurtured from his formative years growing up in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kasese District.
Close to his heart are projects that not only preserve wildlife, flora and ecological endeavors but also improve education, tourism and hospitality in Uganda.
The Ruparelia Foundation
The Ruparelia Foundation works to improve and promote education, sports, health, general welfare, poverty eradication, as well as support the welfare of wildlife and preservation of the environment by fostering partnerships among businesses, corporations, with the government, non-governmental organisations and individuals.
According to Rajiv Ruparelia, one of the directors at Ruparelia Group, the foundation will sponsor Fresh Kids’ primary education from his current class P2 to P7 at their prestigious Kampala Parents School.
This decision was made after meeting Uganda’s youngest rapper and musician.
“Today, I met this young man called Fresh Kid and was moved by his ambition being only 7 years old, said Rajiv Ruparelia.
Adding that, “I would love to see him become a guide and inspiration to many young people out there hence, Ruparelia Foundation is presenting this young man with a full study scholarship at Kampala Parents School.”
“The Ruparelia Foundation is committed to keeping children in schools through undertakings that include funding school infrastructure and students’ needs with the hope that these efforts will eventually raise incomes and reduce poverty, Sudhir Ruparelia.
Adding that, “Education is profound in steering a country towards economic growth while at the grassroots; it opens doors to an individual’s personal advancement and financial growth.”
With Uganda having one of the highest school drop-out rates in East Africa and government’s free education policy for primary and secondary school being defeated by social issues, many of which are connected to poverty, the scholarship to Fresh Kid is a positive gesture.
