Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park Upon Arrival in Rwanda
Embark on the drive to Akagera National Park following your arrival at Kigali International Airport – the main gateway to the land of a thousand hills.
You can opt to freshen up at one of the hotels in Kigali before you proceed on 135km about 2 ½ hours’ drive to Akagera National Park to the east of Rwanda close to the Tanzanian border.
The drive is scenic and offers views of the countryside including the local settlements in Rwamagana. Settle for a sun-downer at the lodge, dinner, and overnight

Day 2: Undertake a Game Drive in The Morning & Boat Cruise in The Afternoon on Lake Ihema
The game drive in Akagera National Park commences at 7 am after breakfast exploring the rich savannah landscapes dotted with a myriad of wild game including four of the big five namely; leopards, lions, elephants and Buffaloes, Antelopes like Elands, Roan antelope, Topis, defassa water bucks, reedbuck among others, Maasai Giraffe and Burchell’s Zebra. The game drive lasts 3 – 4 hours after which you settle at the lodge for relaxation and lunch.
In the afternoon, a boat ride on Lake Ihema awaits to enable you to explore the largest protected wetland system in the whole of Central Africa.
The system features a myriad of lakes including Lake Ihema where the boat trip is conducted, Lake Shakani known for sport fishing, Lake Gishanju, Lake Rwanyakizinga, Lake Mihindi, and the famous River Akagera from which the park is named.

Day 3: Drive Back to Kigali, Explore Gisozi Genocide Memorial & Depart in The Evening
Following breakfast at the lodge, you embark on the drive back to Kigali 135km around 2 ½ hours’ drive enjoying the en route beautiful landscapes.
After arriving in Kigali, you tour the genocide memorial at Gisozi to learn about the details of Rwanda’s horrific event of 1994 where a count of 800, 000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus lost their lives.
You learn about the cause and effect of the genocide and pay tribute to the fallen people. From the genocide site, you proceed to Kigali International Airport to catch up with your flight back home.
