 4 Days Congo Gorilla Trekking Safari & Nyiragongo Volcano Climbing Tour – Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali / Gisenyi to Goma & Proceed to Kibumba Tented Camp

Early transfer from Kigali or connect from Gisenyi Lake Kivu, cross the Congo border at Goma by 10am and proceed to Kibumba Tented Camp for relaxation and overnight

Accommodation: Kibumba Tented Camp (Midrange)

Day 2:  Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park & Relax At The Lodge

The Virunga National Park is not only a Mountain Gorilla haven but also Chimpanzees. Other wildlife in Virunga National Park include; Elephants, Okapi, Hippos, Blue monkey, Olive baboon, Buffalo among others in various sections of the park.

The gorilla trekking commences in the morning at the ranger post downhill and involves traversing the forested jungle of the park in the company of the ranger guides.

The moment with the Mountain Gorillas in limited to one hour with opportunities for amazing photo shoots and extensive learning about these critically endangered species.

Retreat from the activity and connect back to the lodge for relaxation. You can engage in other activities like bird watching or nature walks.

Day 3:  Adventure Hike to Nyiragongo Volcano

After breakfast at 6am from your lodge in Gisenyi, transfer to Congo boarder at Goma to cross at 7am. Go through the immigration and transfer to Kibati patrol post to catch up with Nyiragongo Adventure hike commencing at 10am.

In the company of the ranger guide and the porter, you trek this amazing volcano known to be the world’s most violent and largest lava lake.

The trek lasts about 5 hours but it can as well go up-to 5pm depending on one’s physical fitness.

Spend the evening on the top of the Mountain and gaze into the red lava lake after dark generating a lasting Congo adventure experience!

Day 4:   Descend From Nyiragongo Volcano & Transfer Back to Kigali / Gisenyi

Descend from Nyiragongo Volcano after breakfast and amazing natural views of the landscape.

Arrive at the starting point around 11am and transfer back to Goma where you will meet your Rwandan driver to transfer back to Gisenyi or direct to Kigali.
